LIP BLUSH PRE/POST CARE

*IMPORTANT*
Your lips cannot be dry for the appointment. If they are dry we will need to reschedule and you will forfeit your deposit. You should exfoliate 3 days before your appointment to remove any dry skin. You can use a lip scrub or create your own using a little honey and brown sugar. For the week leading up to the appointment you must moisturize your lips as much as possible (I recommend using aquaphor and a nightly lip mask).

Cold sores are a risk of lip blush tattoo. If you have had a cold sore in the past- we advise you to go to the doctor for an anti-viral medication prior to any lip procedure, to help avoid an outbreak. Even if you have not had a cold sore before- I recommend all of my clients take L-lysine 2 weeks before the appointment and 2 weeks following the appointment to reduce the risk. We can get you a script for an anti-viral, please ask if this is needed.
*FILLERS/BOTOX, please see guidelines below.

Stop using any skin thinners (Vitamin A, glycolic acids, exfoliation) on the brow area 2 weeks prior to your appointment.

  • Stop any use of unnecessary supplements a week prior to your appointment.

  • Any waxing should be done at least 2 days before.

  • Cosmetic botox should be done 2 weeks prior or 2 weeks after for your procedure area.

  • Fillers must be done a month prior, or 2 weeks after for your procedure area.

  • DO NOT consume alcohol, caffeine or take any blood thinners (aspirin, ibuprofen, Niacin 48 hours before your procedure, this will cause excess bleeding and may affect your results).

  • You may experience hypersensitivity and more pain around or during your menstrual cycle.

  • I will not be able to tattoo over any blemishes, sores, and moles in the area.

  • If you happen to have a cold sore outbreak, please notify me to reschedule when it is healed.

  • Come with a fresh clean face. Get your workout in early in the day, if possible. Eat a light meal or snack beforehand. IF you absolutely need caffeine, it is fine to plan on having some right after your appointment.

  • Bring any pictures, colors, or selfies to show me your desired HEALED results.

  • IF the day of, you are not feeling well, have a migraine, traumatic event, death in the family, etc please reach out to reschedule. I am understanding and know that life still happens. This is a tattoo on your face, I want us both to be in a good state of mind. Exceptions for deposits can be made, but are up to my discretion.

    After your Appointment:

Lips will feel swollen and very dry after your treatment. Apply ointment on lips several times a day. This should be done for at least 14 days post treatment. Do not allow lips to become dry. This may interfere with healed color. During the day if lips feel dry, apply a liberal amount of ointment. Just tap on skin and do not rub in.

Always use a clean Q-tip, not fingers to apply ointment to the lips area. This will reduce the risk of infection.

After lips are no longer tender to the touch they may become flaky. This is normal and is expected. Please do not pick or scratch at them. This may significantly reduce the amount pigment absorption. Avoid the sun and tanning beds pre and post procedure. Be sure to use a sun block once lips are healed. Do not use any Glycolic, Hydroxy or fruit acid products on lips. Avoid direct water pressure, pools and other bodies of water, until healed. You can resume wearing lipstick once lips are healed. Redness, swelling, tenderness, dryness are all common post treatment side effects and will dissipate in a short period of time. Avoid oily, salty, acidic foods and alcohol while healing.

Lips are a muscle and may require a touch-up session to complete the process of this procedure. Lips are unpredictable. Some clients will yield very strong healed lip color. Others will only heal with slight color uptake. This will vary on an individual basis. Clients with sun damage, scar tissue (from injury or fever blisters) and clients with implants may not have strong results. Hyperpigmentation can happen on any lip client without warning. If you have a history of Fever Blisters, Cold Sores or Chicken Pox, we advise you to go to the doctor or for an anti-viral medication prior to any lip procedure, to help avoid an outbreak. Follow all before and after instructions after all lip treatments. Lip retouch must be scheduled 30 to 45 days apart from initial season to help with color retention.

Lips heal in three stages: Too dark - Too light - Just right. This takes one month to happen. Please avoid any friction to lip area.

    TOUCH UPS

Allow your brows a MINIMUM of 6 weeks to heal before having a touch up.

    • Touch ups are typically done within the first 3 months after the initial appointment.

    • This can be a 2 (and sometimes even 3) step process. A 3rd appointment will cost a TRAY FEE*

    • The first session is used to build shape and gain symmetry.

    • The second session is used to perfect the lips and add more color/definition.

    • This is a process and some clients may need multiple sessions to achieve their desired result.

    • Do not expect perfect results after the first session.

    • Oily skin women, permanent makeup may not look as bold or sharp compared to lighter, dryer skin type clients.

    • Some client’s skin may have a harder time retaining pigment and may require additional sessions.

*TRAY FEE is $50 an hour to cover supplies and studio time. For most minor touch ups, only an hour is needed.

    LONG TERM CARE

THERE IS NO GUARANTEE OF RESULTS as everyone’s result will vary due to skin type, lifestyle and the initial 10 day care and longterm care of your brow tattoo.

    • Use at least SPF 50 to protect your skin, sun exposure will cause fading and can alter the color of your tattoo.

    • As the tattoo fades the strokes will get fainter and less defined.

    • Maintenance is required to maintain desired results. Touchups are done on average every 12-24 months to maintain your tattoo.

    • Brows and Lips typically last 1-3 years. Freckles 1 year. Eyeliner 2-5 years.
